It is now time to begin the process of creating your pamphlet. This page will outline the steps that you should follow in order to create a successful project as well as provide you with links to resources that should assist you in your research.

  1. The first step is choosing a genetic disorder that you want to research. The following is a list of genetic disorders that you are free to choose from. You may wish to research a different disorder but you will need to consult your supervisor (teacher) before proceeding with your chosen topic. If you wish to find another disorder to research you may want to try searching Google for different disorders or search through the Health Canada website.

  2. The next step is to perform your research on the chosen disorder. You can use any internet resource that you find but you should be sure that it is a reliable source. Personal websites are not always reliable so you should limit your research to websites created by valid organizations such as government groups, schools, or other research groups. As you are researching you may find it helpful to take notes and record the sources that you use for future reference. Remember to focus on the key points that were covered in the "Task" section of this web quest. The following websites should help you get started on your research:

  3. After you have completed your research you are ready to begin creating your pamphlet. Remember that your pamphlet needs to be visually appealing so including pictures is good idea. A good resource for searching for images is Google Images. For help with using Microsoft Word to create a pamphlet refer to the links provided in the "Task" section. For additional assistance in using Microsoft Word the Official Microsoft Website is a good resource. Remember to review the grading rubric in the "Evaluation" section for details on what your pamphlet should include.

  4. Now that you have completed your pamphlet you should print and submit your final copy to your supervisor (teacher). They will provide you with a time to present your finished product to your colleagues. For your presentation you should be prepared to show your pamphlet and give a brief (5 min) summary of the information that it contains.
