Process
This class or lesson will facilitate a collaborative effort whereby you will do research on the topic Plate Tectonics and then present to the class in relation to the task given. As such, you will be somehow engaging in teaching your classmates.
Students, you are required to formulate THREE groups containing at least 10 persons. The selection of the groups will be as follows: I will issue strips of paper which will be numbered and the numbers will range from 1- 3. You will then randomly select numbers, and so you will gather with other students who have the same number. As such, all the 1s would be one group, the 2s another group and all the 3s would be another group. After this, you will use the information given in the different resources provided under the resources section below to aid in completing the task given. The resources include:
1.Website links
2.Picture of a map
3.Videos
4.Notes/ Handouts on Plate Tectonics
Due to the fact that there are three main plate margins, each group will be assigned a plate margin to explain in relation to the task. In your groups you are expected to work together and segregate the work equally so that the workload can be effectively managed. You are expected to conduct your research along with using the different resources provided, however you must decide on how you will present the information to the class. With that, I have provided you with some ways in which you can do so in the task. Furthermore, in order to evaluate your understanding of what the groups presented, you will be asked individually to compose an essay describing plate tectonics, continental drift and the THREE plate boundaries.
