Process

SURVEY:
You must survey at least 50 students from your assigned grade level.  The survey must be anonymous to be accurate.

Here are suggestions for your survey questions:
How many minutes do you spend on internet (per day/week)
1) all together
2) research for homework
3) watch videos
4) play games
5) socialize
6) shopping
7) other
What is the student's GPA?

These questions can be altered.  You can ask fewer or more questions to get to the conclusion.

Go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/ to create your survey.

ANALYZE:
To analyze your data you must use the following statistical tools
1) mean
2) median
3) mode
4) range
5) variance
6) standard deviation
7) linear regression
8) correlation

You can use your graphing calculator

You decide how to use the statistics on your data.  You may use single or multi-variable to analyze your data.  You can create one table for mean, another for median and so forth.  Or you can make one table for all the statistical data.

Once you are done with the analysis, you must turn in a copy of your work for review before you begin your presentation.

You can refer to your textbook of the concepts before  doing the analysis.

Sample of linear regression:

GPA= a+b*X
where:
a= the intercept
b=regression coefficent
X=independent  variable (e.g. minutes spent in games, homework, videos, etc.)

The format of the linear regression is flexible, depending on your survey and data collection.

PRESENTATION:
You will present your project to the class using Powerpoint, poster, video or other.
Your presentation must include at least 3 graphs of the following:
1) Histograms/Bar graphs
2) Pie chart
3) Box and whisker plot
4) Line Graph/scatter plot
5) stem and leaf plot

Please look at your textbook for lessons on creating these graphs.

You must include the conclusion of your study

POST PRESENTATION/FINAL CONCLUSION

Once we are done with all the presentations, we will combine the conclusion from all the groups to make a final conclusion.
