Multiple Intelligences for Career Discovery

Please complete the following steps.  

1)    First open- Career Discovery Webquest.  Type your name in top write hand corner and save it the appropriate class folder. Please fill it out as webquest directs you to.

2)    Watch- Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences- on Youtube.    
      a.    On the word document, predict what is your Intelligence and why (with at least two sentences).

3)    Take the Multiple Intelligence Survey.  
     a.    When finished, on the word document record your Intelligence.  (You may have two Intelligences   
     both ranked high; include both in your answer).  
     b.    Refer back to the PowerPoint and list two activities, two occupations, and one famous person who  
     share this Intelligence with you.
     c.    Was this close to what you predicted? Yes/No.  Why? (You can again refer back to the PowerPoint 
     for specific examples).

4)    Next look at potential careers utilizing your specific intelligence- Multiple Intelligence Career Chart. You will have to scroll down to see the chart.
     a.    In your Multiple Intelligence column pick three careers you would like to learn more about.

5)    Now go to Vawizard.org where you will research what kind of education is necessary to qualify for each career.
     a.    On the top right hand side, click the login icon. It is case sensitive. 
                  Username: careerdiscovery
                  Password:  TabbMS
     b.    On the word document write down each career,
     what type of higher education is needed,
     program (ex. if you to become a teacher your program is Education),
     and name a specific school in Virginia that provides this education.

6)    Next visit the Occupational Outlook Handbook. This website will tell you what each profession earns, work completed on the job, typical working conditions, and what is the current demand for the job.  Click the hyperlink category that you think each profession falls into.
        1)    Management and Business
        2)    Education and Law
        3)    Engineering and Science
        4)    Farming and Outdoors
        5)    Electrical and Mechanical
        6)    Transportation
        7)    Administrative

     a.    Then find the hyperlink to the particular career.  Click on each hyperlink for earnings, projections,  
     and nature of work. Read each hyper link.
     b.    On the word document, state the average earnings, whether there is an increase or decrease for
     jobs in 2018, and a 3 sentence summary on how you would you use your intelligence in the profession.  
     c.    Do this for each career.
