Getting a Feel for Shapes

Learning Intention: We are learning to find out what a net is and determine the nets of solids.

Indvidual

A net is a pattern of polygons that can be folded up to form a solid shape called a polyhedron.

Activity:

Ask the teacher for: Paper, scissors, pencil, and at least 5 solid shapes.

Follow these steps

• Place the solid shape on a big piece of paper
• Trace around the bottom face
• Roll the solid over and trace again
• Keep rolling and tracing until every face has been done
• Remember to roll sideways to trace the ends as well
