Food for Thought:

  1. Why are the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Iran Hostage Crisis all considered Cold War events? Be sure to address all three in your answer.
  2. How were the Korean War and the Vietnam War similar and different from the perspective of the United States?  From the perspective of the Soviet Union and other communist governments?
  3. Was Vietnam a conflict prompted by containing communism (as the U.S. maintained) or was it a conflict supporting an ally in their efforts at colonialism (as the North Koreans maintained)?
