Volcanoes are natural hazards, happening or waiting to happen, among us. These mountains with vents through which fiery rocks, ash and gases erupt are like time bombs ticking away each day tick, tick, tick,tick and then...voooosh! Explosion! It is therefore important that we understand what a volcano is. Knowledge of its origin, characteristics and location will afford the possibility for preparation for an eruption and therefore prevent loss of life and property by volcanoes.

Based on the information above, it is imperative that we learn about volcanoes especially if we live in areas frequently affected by them.
