In 1901, Australia was finally one nation Federation was here. Australia was a democracywell sort of. Women were not allowed to vote. Early 20th century, women were either housewives or worked in a domestic role, such as a house maids, nannies, cooks and clerical work.

During the World Wars, as the men went to war, women were needed in the work force to replace the jobs the men were doing, such as factory work and farming.

Up until the 60s, if a woman got married, in some cases, she was not allowed back into the workforce as it was her role to stay home and look after the children. Even up to the 1970s women did not receive equal pay to men.
