  • Understanding Atonality and 20th Century Composers
    Description: This YouTube video included in the WebQuest is called “Understanding atonality and 20th century composers”. It will provide a brief explanation of atonality as well as some of the composers during the 20th century. In the unit on twentieth-century classical music, students will use this video as a visual and audial example of atonal music, and why composers chose to implant this new writing tactic. Providing the students who speak other languages or student who are struggling with reading skills with this video will help them to understand the concept of atonality. At the end of the unit, students will be challenged to listen for atonality in different pieces.

  • Twentieth Century Classical Music Slide Show
    Description: This resource included in the WebQuest is a visual presentation/slide show on twentieth-century classical music. The slideshow will be presented in class, but the students will be able to view this on their own outside of class. This gives students who speak different languages other than English and students who have learning disabilities the opportunity to revisit this presentation in case they do not understand something in class. The presentation also has visual representations and links to videos to aid their learning.

  • Musical Timeline of the 20th Century
    Description: This resource includes a timeline of major musical events of twentieth century music. It provides a very brief summary of the events. In the unit of twentieth-century classical music, we will discuss some of these events mentioned, but some students may want to research the events of twentieth century more than what we discuss in class. This information will also be useful to use in the group presentation that the students are required to give at the end of the chapter. This group presentation will help students who speak a different language have an opportunity to interact with others that do.

  • Chapter 19 - 20th Century Classical Music Review
    Description: This resource included in the WebQuest is a study tool. This study tool is a set of online flashcards. The flashcards include information that is discussed in chapter 19: twentieth-century classical music. The students will use this resource as a study tool for the test given at the end of the chapter. This gives students the access to a visual study tool. Students that have learning disabilities or speak a different language will view exactly what will be on the test. Everything is written out very clearly and accurately.

  • You Gotta Know These 20th-Century Composers
    Description: This resource included in the WebQuest is a list of many twentieth-century composers. This resource provides brief information about each composer listed. In the unit of twentieth-century classical composers are mentioned throughout. The students will use this resource for research, because they will be required to give a group presentation of their choice on one of the composers listed. This will give them the opportunity to explore and online resource and work on this project with other students. Working with other students will help students who speak a different language have an opportunity to interact with others that do.
