Welcome: Memorializing Edgar
Description: Edgar Allan Poe was an integral contributor to American Literature. Despite his vast influence in the genre of American Gothicism, upon his death, he was buried in an (initially) unmarked grave. Poe's prolific writings frequently referenced his day-to-day life. These biographical hints, however, were filtered through the author's macabre lens and twisted into new forms. In this WebQuest, students will research biographical details about Edgar Allan Poe and draw connections between the author's reality and his fiction. Students will write an obituary for the late author that emphasizes these correlations between biography and fantasy.
