Welcome: The Great Depression: An Introduction to Of Mice and Men
Description: The Great Depression was a period of economic crisis for the United States. It began with the stock-market crash in October, 1929 and continued through most of the 1930's. This WebQuest will provide students with necessary background information in order to fully understand John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. Students will examine different components of this time period so that they are able to gain an understanding of what life was like for people during the Great Depression. The WebQuest is designed for 10th grade students in an English Language Arts or Social Studies class. It is designed to take three, 90 minute class periods in order for students to complete research based on essential questions, create a display poster, and present their posters.
