Welcome: The Life Cycle of a Butterfly/Moth
Description: The students will identify the stages a caterpillar goes through when becoming a butterfly. This web quest is rich, real, and relevant according to The 3 R’s of WebQuests Let’s keep them Real, Rich, and Relevant by Tom March http://www.infotoday.com/MMSchools/nov00/march.htm because it will demonstrate to the kindergarten age child that (REAL) just like them, even something as small as a caterpillar egg can grow into something bigger. They will be able to relate to this by understanding we all start out as something small, and by eating and adapting to life’s changes, we can grow and change. (RELEVENT) The web quest will show the kindergarten students videos on the life cycle of a butterfly along with creating a group project that will illustrate the butterfly life cycle. (RICH) The students will examine the stages over a 5 day, 30 minute class period that will involve collaborative discussions and group work. The students will create projects from what they have learned about the butterfly life cycle through a craft or drawing.
