Welcome: Mission: Write an Expository Essay
Description: An expository essay is a melding of various aspects of writing. According to the Purdue OWL, “The expository essay is a genre of essay that requires the student to investigate an idea, evaluate evidence, expound on the idea, and set forth an argument concerning that idea in a clear and concise manner. This can be accomplished through comparison and contrast, definition, example, the analysis of cause and effect, etc.” If you can successfully learn and follow the processes to create an effective expository essay, it will prepare you for more advanced and complex writing assignments in the future. This Webquest will take you through the proper steps and procedures for preparing for and writing an expository essay, as well as provide you with numerous resources that can be used for future writing in numerous styles and genres.
