Welcome: Age of Information
Description: The Information Age (also known as the Computer Age, Digital Age, or New Media Age) is the period in human history characterized by the shift from traditional industry that the Industrial Revolution brought through industrialization, to an economy based on information computerization. The information age started in the late 1950s to the late 1970s with the adoption and increase of digital computers and digital record keeping. Computers in the earlier years were only used by government agencies and other large legal entities, and weren’t sold to the public until the late 1970’s. Although computers had been out for a while, it wasn’t until August 6th, 1991, the World Wide Web went live to the world; enabling millions of people to upload anything. The time people spent looking for information shrunk drastically once the WorldWideWeb was established, a couple clicks and all the data you needed was right in front of you. The Digital Age made information easier to document, share, and find.
