Welcome: Rights, Responsibilities, and Roles of Citizenship
Description: This WebQuest will take fourth graders on a journey of learning about what it means to be a citizen. It will describe the kind of rights, responsibilities, and roles each student will have as a citizen, what students can do to positively influence their community currently, the proper traits that a positive citizen expresses, and how being a citizen is important in the future. This WebQuest is in alignment with the Arizona Department of Education's Social Studies standards (Strand 3: Civics / Government - Concept 4: Rights, Responsibilities, and Roles of Citizenship - PO 1. Discuss ways an individual can contribute to a school or community. - PO 2. Identify traits of character (e.g., responsibility, respect, perseverance, loyalty, integrity, involvement, justice and tolerance) that are important to the preservation and improvement of democracy. - PO 3. Describe the importance of citizens being actively involved in the democratic process [e.g., voting, campaigning, civil and community service, volunteering, jury duty]).
