Description: The Great Migration was the movement of over 6 million African Americans from the rural South to the North that began in the early 20th century and lasted up until the 1960s. The Great Migration not only changed the face of America, but contributed to changes in art, music and politics that were highlighted by the Harlem Renaissance in New York City.
