Welcome: From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler
Description: This webquest has been designed as a supplemental activity to deepen student understanding and develop an appreciation for things Claudia and James Kincaid encountered in the book From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. First students will take a virtual tour of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Students will develop critical thinking skills as they compare and contrast the artifacts that were mentioned in the Mixed-Up Files and the artifacts that were and are presently in The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Students will learn more about the famous artist, Michelangelo. They will also develop a deeper appreciation for Michelangelo's masterpiece "The Sistene Chapel." After they view, the piece online, they will create a masterpiece of their own in the same fashion as Michelangelo did when he created The Sistene Chapel. Students will identify key vocabulary throughout the book by testing their memory during fun interactive vocabulary internet games.
