Description: This WebQuest is about the ancient Olympic games and the expected revival of Olympic spirit next Summer in China. Ancient Olympic Games were originated in Greece and were held from 776 B.C. to A.D. 393. The modern Olympic Games began in 1896 when organizers revived them to encourage world peace and friendship and to promote healthy sporting competition for the youth of the world. During the ancient Olympic games all wars were stopped and each city-state sent their best athletes to Olympia to compete for the honor of Zeus at the Olympic Games. Learn about the games and the culture that created them while you are traveling through the ages. Find out how the ancient Greeks lived and what role the Olympic games played in their culture. Move towards present times... Will the spirit of the Olympic games survive in the future or is it going to be lost forever?
