Welcome: Link Between the Arts and Intelligence in Elementary-Aged Children
Description: There has been continuous research linking Arts instruction with higher IQ scores and an overall higher intelligence with children. So why are so many American schools cutting art curriculum in order to cut budgets? Is this only happening across the U.S. or does the same occurence exist internationally? This webquest takes a look at how music, drama/movement, and art are integrated in elementary schools across America, as well as what researchers have found on the effects of the arts on childrens' intelligence and success in the classroom. We also look at how Finland, China, and Japan have approached the issue.
