Open-ended questions require more in-depth responses. Students should use the information that they gather through this WebQuest as a means for supporting the decision they make about putting a Wal-Mart in this small town. An open-ended question is designed to encourage a full, meaningful answer using the student's own knowledge and/or feelings. The teacher should be working with the students in making their responses in-depth and meaningful.

Students should end this WebQuest with a discussion about how students sided on the issue at hand. The students should, as previously stated, back up their decisions with in-depth and meaningful responses. The students should be able to get a view of both sides of the argument, including pros and cons of both sides. Students need to understand that in every issue involving economic,
environmental, and social repercussions, people are going to take sides and very often, a full agreement will not be reached. The students may be able to think of alternatives to issues in order for both sides can be satisfied with the decision.
