This webquest is designed for CLIL classes: Content and Language Integrated Learning, meaning that students learn about subject specific topics and simultaneously enhance their ability to communicate in a foreign language.
Students learn some essential facts about the music, its history during the time of slavery, and the religious background of the lyrics.
The tasks put an emphasis on different aspects of language learning: task 1 asks learners to search for important key words in a written text, task 2 combines a listening comprehension with a short written summary of its content. Task 3 and task 6 use song lyrics for a better understanding of the spoken language. Task 5 asks the students to use a simple computer program to create their own timeline with information they gathered before.
