The Renaissance: A Rebirth

Teacher Page

Focus: This webquest focuses on the causes and effects of the Italian Renaissance. The objective of this webquest is for students to use their prior knowledge of the Renaissance as well as the resource materials provided to work collaboratively to create a cohesive presentation on the Renaissance.

Objectives/Goals: I would recommend using this project as either a culminating project at the end of a unit on the Renaissance or as an assignment that extends student knowledge of the Renaissance. The students really need to have a strong understanding of the background history of the Renaissance for this project to really be effective.

Goals for this project are as follows (but will vary depending on your individual requirements and expectations):

Students will be able to effectively discuss the causes and effects of the Renaissance.

Students will learn how to create a presentation using power point and slide six.

Students will use the included cause/effect chart to see the "big picture" of the long reaching impact the Renaissance had on fields such as art, science, and literature.

Time Required:

Assuming that you have one hour class periods, this project wil take a minimum of 3-4 days. Depending on your students' individual learning abilities and needs it may take longer.

Technology Requirements:

It is absolutely essential that they have access to computers each day you work on this project. Since each member of the group is researching a different part of the project they each need to have their own computers in the beginning stages of research. Once they have done their own research and are ready to meet to work collaboratively on the presentation the students should only need one computer per group.
