WebQuest
Furnishing the NEW MHS Student Lounge!
Teacher Page
RUNNING OUT OF TIME? In this age of teaching, assessing, reassessing, reteaching and finally standardized testing at the end of the year, we rarely have the time to teach all of the required standards in our curriculum. Because students have studied geometry in small increments starting with identifying shapes in kindergarten to the pythagorean theorem in 7th grade, this is a domain that students can study and review on their own.
This WebQuest takes the vocabulary and tasks from the state curriculum on Unit 5 - Transformations in the Coordinate Plane and organize them and make them more student friendly. Because students are at different levels of readiness, you may also choose to allow only your accelerated students to use this WebQuest and teach your other students as you usually do. Some students will appreciate the opportunity to study and learn things on their own.

Standards
MGSE9–12.G.CO.2 Represent transformations in the plane using, e.g., transparencies and
geometry software; describe transformations as functions that take points in the plane as inputs
and give other points as outputs. Compare transformations that preserve distance and angle to
those that do not (e.g., translation versus horizontal stretch).
MGSE9–12.G.CO.3 Given a rectangle, parallelogram, trapezoid, or regular polygon, describe
the rotations and reflections that carry it onto itself.
