In 1970, Benny and Jack Binion acquired rights to this convention, he changed his name to World Series of Poker, and moved to their own casino, Binion's Horseshoe, in Las Vegas. Interest to hold 'em outside Nevada began to grow in the 1980s. Although California has a legitimate card game room offering Draw poker, Texas hold 'em is considered off limits under illegally created laws.
