Standards

The State of Nevada has required the State Board of Education to establish a performance evaluation system for teachers, in which teachers are rated as highly effective, effective, minimally effective, or ineffective, based student achievement data from statewide assessments, as well as administrator observations (State of Nevada, 2017). This evaluation system is known as the Nevada Educator Performance Framework, or NEPF, and incorporates both instructional and professional standards. This action plan reflects the implementation of the instructional standards, which are as follows:

Standard 1: New learning is connected to prior learning and experience for ALL students

Standard 2: Learning tasks have high cognitive demand for ALL diverse learners

Standard 3: ALL students engage in meaning-making through discourse and other strategies

Standard 4: ALL students engage in metacognitive activity to increase understanding of and responsibility for their own learning

Standard 5: Assessment is integrated into instruction for ALL learners

State of Nevada, (2017).
