WebQuest
Goals/Objectives:

  • I can share knowledge about who Anne Frank is; as well as, others who were hiding alongside her.
  • I can explain what the Holocaust was.
  • I can describe the Secret Annex that was the place of hiding for Anne Frank and the others.
  • I can share facts regarding the major events of World War II.
  • I can analyze the happenings of the Holocaust and the major events of World War II.
  • I can reflect on how the events of the past are relevant to me today.

NOTES:

  • Teacher and student should have read the book Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl prior to completing this WebQuest. Teacher should familiarize him or herself with the websites and additional information provided throughout this WebQuest.

  • Introduction to the WebQuest (lesson hook) Idea: To begin the WebQuest is to have a book discussion after the final reading has been completed. Discuss why we read stories like Anne Frank and how these stories make a difference in our own personal stories. Share how when we read a story it becomes a part of a our story. It has the power to change us through the new information and the new concepts that we were not aware of before reading. Discuss the major themes of the Holocaust, World War II, Nazi's, and Hatred. Create a graphic organizer on the board showing ways that these things in the past are connected to similar events and issues today. Then introduce the WebQuest and the essay that will be completed.
