This Webquest was designed to be used as part of an environmental science module for an introductory college course that is heavily web-dependent.  It could easily be modified for use in an upper level high school class.

This assignment covers topics in science, technology, life skills, and economics.  It fulfills the following NETS standards in technology for students:

1.  Basic operations and concepts.

2.  Social, ethical, and human issues.

3.  Technology productivity tools.

5.  Technology research tools.

Check out http://cnets.iste.org/ for more information.

I would like to thank the physical science department at Fairmont State University.  The module that I used as my inspiration for this Webquest is part of the "Science That Matters" I teach there.  I would especially like to thank Dr. Don Trisel for some of his help with ideas I've bounced off him.

For those wanting to modify this for high school use, it fulfills the WVCSOs for the following:

Earth Science Standards:

      SC.S.E.1  Nature or Science; Objectives 2, 3, 4, 6, & 8.

      SC.S.E.2  Content of Science; Objectives 32 & 33

      SC.S.E.3  Application of Science;  Objectives 1, 2, 3, 4, & 6.
