Civil Rights Movement: You Are There

Teacher Page

seventh.jpg

Focus:  This lesson focused on the civil rights movement and its importance in history.  It also allowed students to research and discover more about hose who played such an essential part.

Objectives/Goals:  I would recommend using the lesson after an introductory lesson on the civil rights movement.  Students should be very excited about learning about various individuals after the introductory lesson.  The introductory lesson will give students background knowledge that will help in the completion of the WebQuest.

Students will research and evaluate the roles of different people in the civil rights movement.

Students will use information gathered to write journal entries from the civil rights leader of their choice.

Students will work in groups to write a script for a documentary in which they interview 4 of the civil rights leaders.

Students will be able to describe the impact of civil rights on other areas.

Resources:

Students should be very comfortable with using the internet.

The WebQuest will take about a week to complete because the students will need ample time to work on their journal entries, as well as, their presentations.
