This webquest is designed for students in Middle School or Junior High, grades 6-8. This lesson is designed to introduce students to artworks created by ancient civilizations, including Prehistoric cultures, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, the Middle Ages, and the Renaissance. The activities contained in this lesson are designed to enagage the students' skills of art history, art criticism, art production, and art aesthetics. These activites are also varried to meet stduents' different multiple intelligences.

This lesson can also be easily integrated with Language Arts or Social Studies. This lesson does require extensive research and, in many schools, propper research skills are taught in Language Arts in grade 6 or 7, making it ideal for an integration beweetn Language Arts and Art. Many students also study these ancient civilizations in Social Studies in grade 6 or 7, so an integration between Social Studies and Art would make logical sense. This lesson also teaches life lessons of teamwork and partnership because each student is required to work with at least one partner, which could be teacher-selected or self-selected.

This lesson is successful beacuse it reaches all areas of art education, because it involves students in a variety of activites to reach students with different intelligences, because it incoporates lessons across the curriculum, and because it teaches students life lessons of cooperation... and its fun for both teacher and students!
