Focus:
This WebQuest basically focuses on the exceptional works of Giotto.  The objective of this webquest is to help students learn about Giotto's fresco paintings, primarily in Florence, Italy.

Objectives/Goals:
I would recommend starting this project after you have introduced and started your class on presenting the students many examples from around the world, siting the similarities and differences of the primative art works. This way, the students will have some background knowledge and they should be able to take this project further than without any previous knowledge. They will also have a better vocabulary when writing their report and for the brochure.

  • Students will learn about Giotto's people and locations of his art.
  • Exploring examples from computer examples.
  • Students will come to understand that his art had been with us due to the fact that he created with no electricity, central heating, or modern lights!
  • Students will have "fun" with the exploration these locations and simple beauty of these ancient works of art.

Resources:
Prerequisite Skills: Comfort level with the Internet
Time Required: 3+1 day- 3 days for lessons and preparation ( 45 minutes each) and 1 day for presentation day.
Technology Needs/Materials Needed
Since students will be working in groups, it is not necessary for each student to have a computer, but each group must have one accessible well as the WebQuest "Let's Celebrate Ancient Artists!"
