Teacher Page

This webquest is about students understanding major themes in the novel A Lesson Before Dying. They will be taking words from the author and someone they admire to draw connections from their words to the novel's larger themes. I am giving the students one class period to work on this and address any questions that come up. Students will have  a weekend time period to continue working on the assignment at their own pace. Students are extremely familiar with Google Docs and this form of submission allows instant communication between the teacher and students outside of class time.

Standards

CC.9-10 R.L.2 Key Ideas and Details: Students are determining central themes of a text to analyze in detail its development over the course of a text.
CC.9-10 S.L.1.a Comprehension and Collaboration: Students are researching and preparing material to explicitly draw on evidence from texts to stimulate thoughtful, well-reasoned ideas.
CC.9-10 R.L. 7 Integration of Knowledge: Students will analyze the representation of a subject (the themes and quotes) in two different artistic mediums.
