MA201 Safety

In today's classroom our job as educators is to
hit the TPACK sweet spot. This lesson attempts to aid instructor in this goal.  There are four learning objectives planned for
this activity, �the purpose of objectives is to specify the knowledge and
skills that are important for the students to acquire�. In addition, clearly
stated objectives tell students where they will be going.  This helps motivate them, guide their
studying, and allows them to plan and monitor their own progress� (Newby,
Stepich, Lehman, Russell, & Ottenbreit-Leftwich, 2011, p. 81).  

Standards

Working in pairs or for larger classes in small groups, the students will conduct a WebQuest that 1) Identity the major safety issues within the industry with a 90 percent accuracy 2) Classify the major causes of accidents that result in bodily injury, with a 100 percent accuracy 3) Demonstrate how best practices are used to reduce workman compensation claims and 4) Retrieve new knowledge rapidly and apply that knowledge to the questions asked with an accuracy of 80 percent. These platforms have been imbedded into the WebQuest and assigned their appropriate locations within the curriculum, however, instructor post tests may be found via the students portal as with all post instruction test. Feedback for the WebQuest is provided via a gaming program to be completed by the student prior to post test. The sequence of implementation would begin with a pre-test given before the start of the chapter, students would have the necessary web link, video link, and web-site shortcuts loaded on to laptop computers, this is completed under direct observation by the instructor. The instructor would then begin their course presentation adding in the now blended training platform. Post-test would then be administered as in the post-industrial model.
