There are countless standards that are encorporated in this real-world based inquiry, design, and delivery project.
I teach fifth grade currently. I know they encompass or touch on the standards in sciene regarding ecosystems, causes of pollution, human impact on pollution, changes in biodiversity, biotic and abiotic factors in ecosystems.
Beyond science, this project encompasses independent research and reading, public speaking, and government and civics.
I think this project would be most appropriate for the sixth grade and above. However, some fifth graders could tackle this as well.
