I designed this Webquest to help my students learn to use the internet to browse all different types of information and to allow them the opportunity to evaluate the information according to what they thought was the most important and significant.

Standards

S3.A.1.1.1: Distinguish between fact and opinion.
S3.B.3.2.3: Describe how human interactions with the environment impact an ecosystem (e.g., road construction, pollution, urban development, dam building).

1.4.3.B: Write informational pieces using illustrations when relevant (e.g., descriptions, letters, reports, instructions).
1.4.5.C: Write persuasive pieces.
Include a clearly stated position or opinion.
Include supporting details, citing sources when needed.

NGSS Standards:
3-LS4-3. Construct an argument with evidence that in a particular habitat some organisms can survive well, some survive less well, and some cannot survive at all. [Clarification Statement: Examples of evidence could include needs and characteristics of the organisms and habitats involved. The organisms and their habitat make up a system in which the parts depend on each other.]
3-LS4-4. Make a claim about the merit of a solution to a problem caused when the environment changes and the types of plants and animals that live there may change.*
