Focus: This lesson could be used for 2nd or 3rd grade. My main purpose was to introduce students to the awesome animals of Africa, their habitats and adaptations as well as the problems they face trying to survive. I wanted the students to be able to identify how man is contributing to their problems with survival. By the end of the lesson my hope is that every student will be motivated to do something, no matter how small, to contribute to the solution. Jane Goodall's Roots and Shoots Program (website listed in Resources below), is a student-oriented program and is a great place to start with involving kids, if you want to go deeper into conservation.

Learning Objective: By the end of this WebQuest, the student will be able to identify six endangered species, causes of their endangered status, their habitats, as well as general characteristics and adaptations of those animals.
