Focus:
This WebQuest focuses on the knowledge, skills, and processes needed for doing research and documentation for research papers.

Objectives/Goals:
I would recommend starting this project just before or at the beginning of a research paper project.

Students will learn how to research for specific information that supports a thesis statement.
Students will learn how to evaluate that information.
Students will learn how to use in-text citations and how in-text citations relate to a works cited page.
Students will learn how to create and format a works cited page.
Students will learn about the different citation styles; specifically, the MLA and APA styles.
Students will learn to use source information without plagiarizing it.
Students will learn how all of the skills and practices learned in the webquest work together in the research paper text.

Resources:
Prerequisite Skills: Comfort level with the Internet
Time Required: Since this webquest course was created for an online college course, the students decide the schedule individually.  Allow one to two weeks for completion.

Technology Needs/Materials Needed:
For online courses, students will use their own computers, computers at the college, or llibrary computers.  For a seated class, a computer will be needed for each individual if the webquest is assigned individually.  If assigned in groups, one computer per group will be needed.

Credits:
I would like to thank the creators of the many information, grammar and research sites that are available on the web.  I would also like to thank the scholars, teachers, and academics who provide instructional videos on You-tube for making wonderful video content available for projects like this one.
