Los Angeles; Here I come!

Teacher Page

picture(13).jpg

I have designed this webquest for further student study after we finished reading the young adult novel "Summer on Wheels" by Gary Soto.  I have a predominate Spanish background in my classroom so I picked the book based on the culture of the characters.

My students loved hte book.  We read all of it outloud in class during a three week period.  Many of them commented on the setting and how much they wished they could visit LA.  They also commented on the homemade bulliten board I created with all the pictures of the places in LA that are featured in the book.  It is for these two reasons that I decided to base their technology project on a trip to LA.

Several of these students might not get a chance to travel in their lifetime, and many of them have no interest in history, or culture.  i thought this would be a goo dway to expose them to all of that plus drive home their understanding of the contents in the book.
