Target Learners: 6th - 8th grade

Essential Questions:

What are the different types of world governments?

How do governments of the world's countries funtion and interact with each other?

Unit Questions:

Why are governments important?

How do other governments in the world affect the United States and how does our government affect those of other countries?

Content Questions:

What are the characteristics of different world governments and who is in control?

Student Objectives/Learning Outcomes:

The student will be able to recognize characteristics of different world governments.

The student will be able to realize the role of American politics and policies in other parts of the world.

The student will be able to recognize world leaders from other countries and how they interact with American leaders.

Approximate Time Needed:

Day 1 - Introduction of website / individual research of types of government definitions

Day 2 - 4 Brainstorming, review, and group powerpoint creation. (Last 5 minutes of each class should be devoted to assigning homework for each group member) Each member MUST BRING HOMEWORK EACH NIGHT. CLASS TIME SHOULD BE DEVOTED TO INPUTTING MATERIAL INTO POWERPOINT.

Day 5 - Powerpoint Presentations

 Accommodations for Differentiated Instruction:

Group Assignment, 1-1 assistance as needed, class time and recess/study hall time availability
