This Endangered Species webquest is an interdiscplinary unit where students can broaden their understanding of math and science. The students will work together cooperatively in groups to collect data on specific species of animals. They will utilize skills of geometry with determining area and scale models/drawings in a real world application of designing an animal habitat. This is a way to utilize technology for research and collection of data, along with hands-on kinesthetic activity to reach all learners. |

Grade 6- 3.5.1 Biological adaptations include changes in structure, behaviors, or physiology that enhance survival and reproduction success in a particular environment.
Grade 7- 3.5.1 Students will explain the cause and effect relationship of the extinction of a species and environmental changes.
KY Math Standards
Grade 6 - 6.G.1 Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes; apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Grade 7 - 7.G.1 Solve problems involving scale drawings of geometric figuresk including computing actual lengths and areas from a scale drawing and reproducing a scale drawing at a different scale. |
