Focus:
This WebQuest basically focuses on Medieval Culture and how it has influenced literature, specifically Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales. The objective of this webquest is to help students learn about that culture, but be able to perform higher level thinking skills in order to evaluate the material presented. This is geared to high school students.

Objectives/Goals:
I would recommend starting this project after you have introduced and started your regular unit on Medieval Literature, any background information you might want to have on the religion and seven deadly sins so that students understand what they will be looking forward to. This way, the students will have some background knowledge and they should be able to take this project further than without any previous knowledge. They will also have a better understanding of the seven deadly sins and other religious thinking that greatly influenced the literature.

  • Students will discover motivations that Geoffrey Chaucer had through hands-on interaction of internet and PowerPoint.
  • Students will come to understand that The Canterbury Tales are relevant today and why it is important that we read them.
