Students explore various perspectives and information about the women that have influenced history when they write biography entries about the person and present collaboratively. They complete the task based on curriculum standards for social studies content exam preparation and learn constructively and independently. Through guided and independent activities they scaffold their knowledge of history from a holistic perspective by conducting research independently, discussing their findings and presenting their ideas collaboratively. 

Language Objective:

6. L.6.4. Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words and phrases based on grade 6 reading and content, choosing flexibly from a range of strategies.

6. L.6.6. Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and domain-specific words and phrases; gather vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension or expression.

CCLS Standards:

6. RH.6-8.1. Cite specific textual evidence to support analysis of primary and secondary sources.

6. RH.6-8.2. Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions.

6. WHST.6-8.1. Write arguments focused on discipline-specific content.

6. WHST.6-8.6. Use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing and present the relationships between information and ideas clearly and efficiently.
