This WebQuest is specifically designed for 8th grade Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE) students that are learning about World War 2. This goes hand in hand with what they've learned about the Holocaust and can be used as an introduction to learning about the Holocaust, or a project to enhance learning about the Holocaust. Either way, this partner activity will demonstrate to students just how powerful and terribly this murdering was. The main goal out of this WebQuest is for students to learn about the different groups of people that were discriminated against and tortured in the Holocaust. The hope for the student is that they will understand just how many people (and different groups of people) suffered in the Holocaust. The links that are provided will give students to research at their own pace. There is plenty of pictures and information about all the groups of people and if students want to be challenged, they can research another group of people when they are done. It is important that students use the time to research their chosen group and not waste time, so observing students as they work to make sure they are on task, is important. This is also why a short, informal, verbal presentation is going to be given by each pair of students. Making them share what they learned and researched will be enough to motivate them during this WebQuest. |
