Introduction

This webquest is intended for fourth, fifth and sixth grade students.  Students should participate in the webquest after they have had an introduction to the six colonies they are going to investigate: Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Georgia.

Teacher Process
In order for this webquest to be effective, all students need to know to use the internet, checking out books from the library and had an introduction to the six colonies they are going to research.  For specific directions about the webquest, see the Process under the Student Page.

This webquest will take several days to complete.  I would suggest introducing the students to the webquest on day one and then let them continue on their own.  You can use your Social Studies time and/or if you have computer lab time.

If you do not have access to a computer lab with enough computers for everyone or a class set of laptops, you can have the students work together in small groups.  If you do have access to enough computers, but only for a limited time, you can have the student use websites or an online encyclopedia.  Between your Social Studies textbook and another book, students should be able to find enough information if you only have them use one of the internet resources.
