What are Siberian Huskies?
- Siberian huskies were first bred more than a hundred years ago in Siberia. Huskies pulled sleds across the ice and snow. {Picture}
- Siberian huskies
have two layers of thick, warm fur. Their coats are black, white, gray,
and cream. They have
tails that curl up over their backs. Huskies are 20 to 24 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh between 35 and 60 pounds.
What do Siberian Huskies Eat?
- Siberian huskies
eat meat, vegetables, and dry food. It is very important that these dogs have clean,
fresh water to drink each day.
Siberian Husky Babies
- The female husky may give birth to a few or
to several puppies. The puppies are
born blind and deaf. The puppies are fully grown adults when they are two years old. {Picture}
Other Facts:
- Siberian huskies
are rarely in danger from any natural enemies. The
dogs can use their teeth and claws when they fight with other dogs or
smaller animals. The greatest threats to dogs are diseases, accidents,
and being hit by automobiles.
- Siberian huskies
are used to living in packs. The dogs which are larger
and older and stronger are in charge.
- Siberian huskies are able to smell and hear very well. They
can see in shades of gray but not in colors.
- The average life span of Siberian huskies is 10 years.
