- The teacher asks the students what information they already know about the Australian gold rush. Bullet points can be written on the board so students do not repeat answers and can write notes in their topic books.
- Students will be placed in diverse, mixed gender, pairs or groups of three if there are uneven student numbers.
- The majority of the lessons require students to investigate and research as a pair or group and complete the work individually in their theme books. Quiet discussions within groups while completing work may be allowed.
- The process is scaffolded and challenging so students are required to research and find information , as well as problem solve whilst working collaboratively.
- Differing student needs and mixed abilities have been catered for so all students achieve maximum understanding of the unit.
