Where in the World is Badlands National Park?

This Web Quest is intended to prepare your students for a Badlands National Park curriculum-based education program presented by a park ranger. Badlands provides distance learning video conference programs using Skype or an IP-based video conference system. See www.nps.gov/badl/forteachers to learn more or to schedule a program. The park also offers in classroom programs for schools within 80 miles of Interior, SD.

Students will become familiar with the Badlands portion of the Great Plains region of the United States. Students will discover the geographical location of Badlands National Park. Next, they will define �national park.� Finally, they will briefly examine key natural and cultural resources associated with the park. For example: biome, common mammals, erosional landforms, fossils, Native American history.

Students can complete the activity independently, in groups, or as a teacher-facilitated class activity.
