Washington State Standards:
History: 4.1.2 students understand how the following themes and developments help define eras in U.S. history.
Reading: 2.3.2 students analyze and synthesize information for relevance in meeting a specific task. 2.3.4 synthesize information from a variety of sources. 3.1.1 analyze web-based and other resource material for relevance in answering research questions.
Writing: 2.1.1 applies understaning of multiple and variedy audience to write effectively. 2.3.1 writes in a variety of genres. 3 writes clearly and effectively.
Educational Technology: 1.1.1 generate ideas and create original works using a variety of digital tools. 1.3 investigate and think critically. 2.3 select and use applications: use productivity tools and common applications effectively and constructively.


Notes:




  •   The assignments are tiered for ability with modifications in mind.  The event reporter is the most complex of the assignments with the GPS locators being the most easily modified assignment. 


  •   This Web-quest should follow a thorough reading of the novel.


  •   This Web-quest is not the entire unit of study; it is merely being used as a culminating activity in an integrated unit of study that involves both Language Arts classes and Social Studies classes.


  •  Additional activities that student complete during the entire unit may include:  handicapped obstacle course, create trade signs, family crests/cups, write post cards from the Boston Tea Party, and participate in re-enactments of the Intolerable Acts.
