Azorean Products, Practices, and Perspectives

By the end of the lesson, you will:

- Research one cultural instrument (i.e. Viola da Terra) and describe its history

- Find two culture outfits (one of a low socioeconomic status and one of a high socioeconomic status) and compare and contrast them in detail

- Analyze a traditional folklore song from an island of your choice, in which you must describe the meaning behind the lyrics

All of these cultural symbols must be associated with the Azores islands. The learning goal compare and contrast different cultural symbols from different Azorean islands. You must provide google images that represent each symbol. You may also refer to web pages that are associated to traditional Azorean folklore groups. Please be sure to specify which island each cultural symbol represents.
