Grade 9 Biology, Ecology Unit Lesson #5: Science Experience Outside the Classroom, Mountsberg Conservation Area

1)    Students will be asked to complete the digital (computer based) activity at http://www.kidwings.com/owlpellets/flash/v4/index.htm

2)    Students will be assigned to briefly research a pre-assigned species.  For homework the night before students will be required to look up (from Internet sources) the (a) Scientific species name (b) geographical species habitat (c) diet (d) special characteristics or interesting facts.  This homework will serve as a practice because students will be assigned a species that they will encounter on the field trip and the students will be required to record (a) through (d) from information in the exhibits at the Mountsberg visitors centre and in the �Birds of Prey� program.  Students will be required to hand in their notes/assignment the day following the field trip. 

Pre-activity assignments will not be graded but students will receive a mark for completion.

Trip Activity: Please refer to the 'Process' tab for full details and scheduling for the day of the field trip.
