Today you will explore the many layers of decimals in order to prepare you for creating your own blueprint for the Atlanta Zoo! Before designing your blueprint you will complete a series of tasks that will require you to use your knowledge of decimals to be successful. You have paper, notes and pencils to use to help you complete each task. If you are able to complete each task, you will be rewarded!

Students will be able to:

-READ and WRITE decimals to thousandths.

-COMPARE two decimals to thousandths based on meanings of the digits in each place, using <, >, or = symbols to record the results of comparisons.

-ADD, SUBTRACT, DIVIDE, and MULTIPLY decimals to hundredths USING concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; RELATE the strategy to a written method and EXPLAIN the reasoning used.
